The most heat is used to decompose limestone.
In conventional SP (Suspension Pre-heater) kilns, the limestone is decomposed mostly in the kiln. However, the kiln is low heat transfer efficiency. Also, the heat load per kiln cross-sectional area is high, so kiln bricks wear very much.
To solve these problems, calciner technology has been developed, which is called NSP (New Suspension Pre-heater) kilns.
Our parent company, Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has developed two types of NSP kilns, RSP (Reinforced Suspension Pre-heater) and DDF (Dual combustion and Denitrification Furnace). These types have the following features.

Reinforced Suspension Preheater (RSP)

  1. Easy combustion control in Swirl calciner

The temperature inside calciner can be controlled easily by adjusting Tertiary air volume from clinker cooler.

  2. Easy and steady kiln operation

The operability of kiln is improved through raising decarbonate rate of raw material entering to kiln.

  3. Combustion of hard-to-burn fuel

Hard-to-burn fuel with low volatile matter such as Fluid Petcoke, Delayed Petcoke, Anthracite etc. can be utilized without auxiliary burning by introducing Tertiary air of high oxygen content.

  4. Utilization of waste materials.

Waste materials such as waste plastics, waste oil, wooden tip etc. can be used as alternative fuel of principal fuel.

Dual combustion and Denitrification (DD) Calciner

Dual Dual combustion and Denitration (DD) Calciner is a pre-heating system developed for cement manufacturing process based on many years' experiences of Taiheiyo Cement Corporation. The DD Calciner is installed directly above kiln inlet without riser area, so that dust coating can be less. Also, the DD Calciner can combust fuel at low O2 condition = reduction atmosphere, so that NOx at outlet of DD Calciner can be less. Taiheiyo Engineering offers the engineering services for construction of DD Calciner for new plant including modification of existing SP system to DD Calciner.
